What is the First Kalma?
The first kalma, also known as Kalima Tayyab, is the declaration of faith (Shahada) in Islam. Essentially, It is the fundamental belief that affirms the oneness of Allah and the prophethood of Muhammad ﷺ. Every Muslim must sincerely believe and recite it as the foundation of their faith.

In Arabic
لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا ٱللَّٰهُ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ ٱللَّٰهِ
In Roman English
La ilaha illallahu muhammadur rasulullah
Translation
“There is none worthy of worship except God (Allah) and Muhammad is the messenger of God.”
When to Recite the Ist kalima?
- Declare your faith by reciting it when accepting Islam.
- Secondly, Remember Allah with it during daily supplications.
- When facing hardship, seek Allah’s help by reciting it.
- Finally, Before sleeping for spiritual protection.
