What is Taraweeh Prayer
Taraweeh prayer is a special night prayer performed during Ramadan after Isha salah. It is highly rewarding and a means of earning Allah’s mercy and forgiveness. What is Taraweeh? It is an extra prayer consisting of multiple rak’ahs, usually prayed in congregation.
The Special Supplication
During Taraweeh namaz, reciting dua of Taraweeh enhances the spiritual experience. Many believers recite dua of Taraweeh after every four rak’ahs, seeking Allah’s blessings.
In Arabic
سُبْحَانَ ذِي الْمُلْكِ وَالْمَلَكُوتِ ، سُبْحَانَ ذِي الْعِزَّةِ وَالْعَظمَةِ وَالْهَيْبَةِ وَالْقُدْرَةِ وَالْكِبْرِيَائِ وَالْجَبَرُوتِ ، سُبْحَانَ الْمَلِكِ الْحَيِ الَّذِي لَا يَنَامُ وَلَا يَمُوتُ سُبُّوحٌ قُدُّوسٌ رَبُّنَا وَرَبُّ الْمَلَائِكَةِ وَالرُّوحِ اللَّهُمَّ أَجِرْنَا مِنَ النَّارِ يَا مُجِيرُ يَا مُجِيرُ يَا مُجِير
In Roman English
Subhana dhil mulki wal malakoot, subhana dhil izzati wal ‘azamati wal haybati wal qudrati wal kibriya’i wal jabaroot. Subhanal malikil hayyil ladhi la yamutu wa la yamoot, subbuhun quddusun rabbuna wa rabbul mala’ikati war-rooh. Allahumma ajirna minan-nar, ya mujeer, ya mujeer, ya mujeer.
Translation
“Glory be to the Possessor of the Kingdom and the Dominion. Glory be to the Possessor of Might, Majesty, Awe, and Power, and to the Possessor of Greatness and Omnipotence. Glory be to the Living King who never sleeps nor dies. All-Glorious, All-Holy is our Lord, the Lord of the angels and the Spirit. O Allah, protect us from the Fire. O Granter of refuge, O Granter of refuge, O Granter of refuge.”
When to Recite Taraweeh Namaz Dua?
- After every four rak’ahs in Taraweeh prayer
- At the end of Taraweeh before Witr prayer
- During personal supplications in Ramadan nights
